Kesiena Boom is the author of Birthmark, selected by Justin Torres for the Summer 2026 issue of Ploughshares. In 2021 her story Low Pony won the So to Speak Fiction Prize as judged by Natalie Lima.Low Pony was subsequently nominated for the PEN/Robert J.Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers 2022, longlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award 2022 and published in Queer Life, Queer Love (Muswell Press, 2021). She is also the author of Persephone which was shortlisted for the CRAFT Short Fiction Prize 2024.
